Carrie Thelma James 84, passed away on December 06, 2025, in Charlottesville, VA. Thelma was born on March 17, 1941, in Viewtown, VA (Culpeper County), to the late Norvel and Mary Estes James. Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Jack, James, Julian James (Ann), Elmer James (Monica), Elizabeth Suter (Richard), and David James. Thelma is survived by her brothers, John (Joan), William (Sue), and Donald (Eleanor); sisters, Agnes Geer (John), Helen Forbes (Alan), Mary Ann Hughes (Mike); sister in law, Joyce, and a number of nieces and nephews. Thelma graduated from Culpeper County High School, then worked for Virginia Telephone and Telegraph Company in Charlottesville, VA, district secretary for Safeway Stores, and the University of Virginia in the Communications Department, from which she retired. Thelma enjoyed spending time with her precious dogs that brought her much joy and appreciation for life. A Graveside service for Thelma will be held on Thursday December 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at Holly Memorial Gardens 3521 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22911 with Pastor Lindsay Ellis presiding. In lieu of flowers the family asks to consider a donation to the local SPCA in Thelma's memory.
