William Thomas Clapp II of Palmyra passed from this life to be with our Lord in the early hours of Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Dogwood Village nursing facility after a long illness.Born May 15, 1930, to the late Miriam Field Montelius and William Thomas Clapp in Williamsport, Pa., he was educated in Camp Hill and graduated from Dickinson College. Preceding his death were his wife, Martha Ann Wagner Clapp; and his daughter, Anne Clapp.He is survived by his wife, Lonne Dillinger-Clapp of Palmyra; two daughters, Cynthia and her husband, Carl Gray of Culpeper, Virginia, and Jennifer and her husband, John Daly of Palm Coast, Florida; and seven grandchildren, Whitney Gray Himes and husband, Coleman of Warrenton, Va., Melisa Gray Greene and husband, Matthew of Fredericksburg, Va., Lory Gray Colella and husband, Jeff of Framingham Mass., Sarah Anne Clapp of Palm Coast, Fla., Glenn Gray of Arlington, Va., William Daly and wife, Adrienne of Spring Lakes Hts, N.J., and Jackie Ducker and husband, Rich of Manahawkin, N.J.; and also a sister; Joan Clapp Biel and husband, Earl.Bill served in the Marine Corps for three years after his graduation from Dickinson. Then he worked for AT&T for 31 years, and lived in various places in New Jersey. He retired in 1986 and moved to Lake Monticello with his wife, Martha, who passed away in 2005. They played golf for many years and then Bill played with various golfing groups which he enjoyed and made life long friendships. In 2008 he married Lonne Dillinger-Clapp at South Plains Presbyterian Church. They resided at The Villages at Nahor. One of his favorite things to do besides golf was to listen to Frank Sinatra. A memorial service will be held on August 8, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the South Plains Presbyterian Church, Black Cat Road, Keswick, Va. In lieu of flowers memorial donstions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont or Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue.
