David VanBuren Obituary

David Edward Van Buren

April 28, 1959 - November 24, 2024

In Loving Memory of David Edward Van Buren.

April 28, 1959 November 24, 2024.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.

David Edward Van Buren, 65, of Charlottesville, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on November 24, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on April 28, 1959, in Michigan, to Ronald Dwaine Van Buren and Carol Ann Carter Van Buren.

David was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a faithful son, a cherished brother, and a loyal friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Dwaine Van Buren, and his son-in-law, James Brandon. He is survived by his beloved wife, Fannie "Loretta" Luckett of Charlottesville, Virginia; his mother, Carol Van Buren of Utah; his siblings, Brad Van Buren of Michigan, Dawn (Dale) Carter of Tennessee, and Valerie (Craig) Smith of Utah; his daughter, Heather Brandon of California; stepdaughters, Candace (Sean) White of Virginia and Sybil Luckett of Virginia; and stepson, James (Jerrjuan) Mills of Alabama. He also leaves behind 12 precious grandchildren and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

David served his country in the United States Armed Forces, a service that shaped his life and character. He was deeply patriotic and took great pride in his time in uniform. His adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively, both within the United States and internationally, always eager to explore new places and cultures.

Most recently, David worked as an Air Terminal Attendant at the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport, where he found great joy in his work and camaraderie with his colleagues. He had a lifelong love for baseball and was an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Virginia sports teams. Whether cheering from the stands or watching from home, his passion for the game was unwavering.

David's life was marked by love, laughter, and faith. He will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion to family, and his unshakable belief in Christ. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held on April 28, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Union Run Baptist Church, 3220 Keswick Rd, Keswick, Virginia 22947, on what would have been his 66th birthday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a veterans' organization or charity of your choice in David's honor.

Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he is at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Rest in His eternal embrace, David. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I never spoke with David but I remember him from years of attendance at Union Run services (I'm a musician there). May God bless him and family.
