Donald Burns Obituary

Donald Allen Burns, age 66, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on December 20, 1958, in Charlottesville, VA.

Donald was self-employed as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed cooking, sports, fishing, chess and listening to music. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Joan Burton of Charlottesville, VA. Two daughters, Natasha and Quante Washington, both of Charlottesville, VA. Six grandchildren, Tyshawn, Damarion, Khatron, Semajah, Khamari and Sedarion. Two great-grandchildren, Tykaydence and Yunik all of Charlottesville, VA. Three brothers, Richard Burns of Lexington, KY, Michael Burns of Minneapolis, MN and Clifford Burns of Charlotte, NC. Two sisters, April Burns of Charlottesville, VA and Francesca Hackley of Midlothian, VA. Four aunts, Marian Dixon, Margaret Vaughan, Marian Blakey and Shirley Brown all of Charlottesville, VA. He is also survived by a special niece, Natasha Lee and two nephews, William Burns and Steven Jefferson, who supported him during his illness, and a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Quanshe Washington, his brother, Edward Burns and stepfather, James Burton.

Donald decided to donate his body to the Anatomical Foundation in Richmond, VA. His donation will help the University of Virginia Medical Center learn more about treating and curing prostate cancer.

The family would like to thank the staff at the University of Virginia Medical Center, the Emily Couric Center and Sentara Martha Jefferson for their care with our family member throughout his journey. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
