Elwood White Obituary
Elwood loved the Lord. He was baptized and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He joined and served at Thessalonia Baptist Church as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Trustee, and Financial Secretary. He recently joined Union Baptist Church of Scottsville and continued to serve the Lord. Elwood proudly served in the United States Army.
Elwood enjoyed fishing, traveling, spending time with family, and was a huge fan of the Commanders football team. He served in the community delivering meals for the Meals on Wheels program and assisted with reading through the Learning Together program.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward White; his mother, Cornelia A. White; three sisters, Edna White, Vicki Stephens, and Rachel White; Brother-in-Law William Gaines Sr., and his wife, Ruth Monroe-White.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving companion, Arclincia Cooke, three daughters, Anita White, Tracy White(Melissa), and Anjanette Persinger(Harry), three sons, Jeryl Lewis(Terri), Keith Lewis(Tiadonna), and Ryan White. Nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren, four brothers, Joe White(Bonita), Charles White(Anita), Tommy White, and John White(Charlotte), Brother-in-Law Andre Stephens, four sisters, Leslie White, Priscilla Jackson, Dorothy Gaines, Phyllis Bradley(Walter), and a host of other family and friends, including his friend of over 50 years, Tommy Rush.
A service to celebrate Elwoods life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20th, at New Fork Baptist Church, 16 New Fork Church Lane, Palmyra, VA. 22963. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Fluvanna in his honor. A reception following the service will be held in the fellowship hall.

Anita, Adaya, and Family of Mr. Elwood- it was only a few months ago at Adaya's graduation party that Mr Elwood and I enjoyed a good conversation about family, church, and how good God is. Mr Elwood was extremely proud of his family and left with me words of encouragement to keep pressing on and singing God's praises. It is always an honor when someone takes the time out to share their love of God, it shows they truly care about people. I pray for strength and comfort for the family and friends. Love Jamie, Darcy, and family.
