Florence "Ann" (Sandridge) Wood, 83, of Troy, VA, and formerly of Earlysville, VA, entered heavenly rest on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

She was born April 18, 1942 in Charlottesville, VA and was the daughter of the late Layton Earl Sandridge and Erlene Thelma Wood Sandridge. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Maurice Wood; son, Michael Wood. Also surviving is her sister, Faye Wharton of Archdale, NC, with her children Paul Wharton, II (Emily) and Nikki Bishop (Stephen) also of NC, and many other special family and friends.

Ann was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in the 1970s and 80s on a part-time basis. She enjoyed serving the postal customers in the Earlysville post office, and worked some nights sorting mail at the main Charlottesville post office as well. She enjoyed growing vegetables and sharing them with friends and family as well as canning, preserving, and of course eating them. She also spent many happy hours mowing grass, fishing on the Rivanna, dancing, going to auctions and yard sales, listening to music, and reviewing decades worth of photos.

Though she endured many medical challenges over the years, she persevered as best she could. And even though, in the last several years, her mobility was limited, she still enjoyed keeping her hands busy with pastimes including prolifically wrapping little boxes as Christmas decorations, embroidery, adult coloring, and lately working jigsaw puzzles on her tablet. By far the thing she relished most was every opportunity to catch up with dear friends and family whether in person or on the phone, and sharing a laugh along the way. She leaves a void that will be felt by many.

Many thanks to her numerous doctors and nurses who cared for her throughout her struggles, and the caring staff at Martha Jefferson hospital.
