Glenn Drewry Obituary

Glenn Steven "Steve" Drewry

Glenn Steven "Steve" Drewry, 64, of Keswick, Va., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. His wife, son and daughter were with him and in spirit by his side. He was born on May 13, 1956, in Charlottesville, Va., to the late Richard Leland Drewry and Virginia Orr Farris. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, whom he shared a special father/son relationship with, Robert "Red" McDaniel and a very special brother-in-law, Bradley McGehee, whom he thought of more as a big brother.

Survived by his lifelong soulmate and loving wife of 42 years, Tammy Drewry of Keswick; his daughter and baby girl, Lori Nicole Fitzgerald of Charlottesville, Va., and his best friend and son, Steven "Ryan" Drewry of Palmyra, Va. He is also survived by his son and daughter by marriage whom he loved and considered as his own children, Aaron Fitzgerald and Jessica Drewry. Steve is also survived by his three beautiful grandbabies who were Pawpaw's pride and joy and never failed to put a smile on his face, Mackenzie Watsyn and Drewry Leeland Fitzgerald and Lena "Parker" Drewry. He also leaves behind his two fur babies whom he loved with all his heart, Skittles and Sangria. Steve is also survived by his sister, Suzanne McGehee and his three nephews, Scott (Penny), Michael (Kristy), and Jason (Jamie) McGehee whom he loved with all his heart; his mother-in-law, whom he shared a special mother/son bond with and he loved to pick on, Anna McDaniel; a special sister and brother, Doris and John Wharton; his aunts, Barbara Ann Buckner of Florida, and Johnnie Lee Ward of Louisiana; and many special cousins who he loved and cared deeply for. Not to be forgotten are Steve's lifelong friends and extended family the Thornhills, Don, Edith and their two sons, Tres and Josh "Farva"; his hunting buddies who he loved sharing time with, Montie Bryant and Bill Youman.

Steve was a wonderful husband, father, pawpaw, brother, uncle and friend who loved everyone with all of his being. Never taking anything for granted, he enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed spending his spare time traveling with his wife and family across the U.S., often camping. He loved to relax by the camp fire spending time with family. An avid hunter, who loved being in the woods and sharing that time with his daughter and granddaughter, he was a jack of all trades but a master of none, a passionate perfectionist who loved working on projects around the house and sharing this time with his son. A man of many talents, he built his family home from the ground up alongside his father. He was a teacher and a caretaker who made sure family came first and everyone was taken care of and wanted to provide the best life for them. Steve was a graduate from Lane High School class of 1974, the same year he started working for Jim Price Chevrolet, where he remained employed until his time of death. During those years he created many lifelong friendships.

The family will hold a graveside service at Monticello Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at 2 p.m.
