Gregory Forsyth Obituary

Gregory was born on August 8, 1964, to Lynn and Marguerite Forsyth. Greg lived most of his life in Ridgefield Connecticut, graduating from RHS, Class of 1982. He then attended University of Connecticut, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science and Technology.

Greg enjoyed time with his family and friends. He loved music and played percussion in the Ridgefield High School Band and the Ridgefield Youth Orchestra. He loved to play tennis with his dad, ski with friends, and vacation at the beach with extended family. He delighted in beating his family in poker and board games, which he did often!

Gregory sustained a traumatic brain injury in 1988 that left him permanently disabled. Under the loving care of his parents, physicians, nurses, physical therapists and caretakers, Gregory embraced life and enjoyed his family, and friends for many years.

Greg and his parents moved to Charlottesville Virginia in 2001, where he continued his hard work at recovery and living the best life he could. Some of his favorite moments were spent out on Lake Monticello on his parent's boat, fishing and cruising the lake. He continued to delight in family gatherings and never missed a beach vacation, holiday or wedding celebration.

Gregory always persevered and labored hard through his therapies. His smile and positive attitude were contagious, and he was loved by all who were lucky enough to call him a son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, or patient.

The family extends their thankfulness to all the nurses, doctors, therapists and PCTs who loved and cared for Gregory through the years.

Gregory is survived by his parents, Lynn and Marguerite Forsyth; his sisters, Susan Craig of Brookfield Connecticut, Cheryl (Tom) Thorpe of Charlottesville Virginia, and Trish (Duane) Oot of Crozet, Virginia; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Pink, Ross Craig, Kimberly McCarthy, Erin Pence, Kylie Hibschman, Caroline Goldberg, Dj Oot, Casey Oot, Tara Oot, and Connor Oot, and many great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Brain Injury of Virginia or the Hospice of the Piedmont of Virginia.

Services celebrating Gregory's life will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlottesville Virginia, followed by a graveside burial at Riverview Cemetery. After the services, the family welcomes all to gather at the home of Cheryl and Tom Thorpe. Address, 963 Kelsey Drive, Charlottesville, Va.

A private family memorial will be held June 27, 2023, in Sandbridge Beach, Virginia.

Go with God Gregory. I'll never forget gregory using every ability he had to praise God. He would use his whole body. He would always say"happy friday" or "happy monday". He always had such a wonderful outlook on life

In1975, Greg was one of my first crushes. My brother Eric figured it out because I had written "Mrs. Greg Forsyth" on a piece of plywood in our little garage. What was I thinking!?!
I remember Greg as handsome, kind, soft spoken, brilliant, and and most importantly, a spectacular skier. I´ve missed him.
