Hazel B. Morris of Quinque, Virginia earned her wings to Heaven on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Hazel was born December 17, 1944, to Harry and Sally Burnley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lymon Morris; a son, Robert Neil Shifflett; two brothers, Russell Burnley and John Grizzard; and one sister, Margaret Proffitt.
She is survived by her daughter, Tamela Sims and husband, Terry; five grandchildren, Antonio Brock and wife, Rebecca, Apitheny Johnson and fiancée, Heather, Aspen Johnson and girlfriend, Kara, Quashawna Poindexter and fiancé, Trey, Daquan Sims and girlfriend, Jahnya; three great-grandchildren, Colby Brock, Samaura Brock, and Mackenzie Brock; and one unborn great-grandchild, Seylah-Rose Cherry; one brother, James Burnley of Ruckersville; four sisters, Barbara Canellas and husband, Mike of Charlottesville, Carolyn Hill and husband, Ken of Williamsburg, Jane Murphy and husband, Jimmy of Chesterfield, and Brenda Grizzard and partner, Richard of Windson; one stepson, Tommy Morris; and one stepgrandson, Justin Morris of Quinque.
Hazel was a longtime employee at UVA, where she retired. After she retired, she enjoyed traveling. Hazel was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
A short graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Alberene Cemetery, 3061 Alberene Church Lane, Esmont, VA 22937, with Pastor David Tyree officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren building fund, 647 Cedar Grove Road, Ruckersville, VA 22968.

Aunt Hazel was a loving & caring person . Spent many summers growing up @ Aunt Hazel House. I will always remember her saying "Sugar & Oh Lordly" Rest In Peace Miss you Anut Hazel will not be same without you . Love from Jeff,Dawn, Leann,Chris.

Hazel was an amazing lady. I met her thru my cousin Vickie Waugh. We always had such a good time. Hazel will be missed so much. Sending prayers to her family and loved ones.

UVa students at Brown College found a true friend in Hazel, who always had a kind word and smile for each of them. The adults associated with the college, including my husband Erik Midelfort and me, appreciated the warmth and good will she expressed toward all of us. There was no one else like Hazel and we are grateful we knew her.

We only knew Hazel for a few short months but in that short time, we grew to love her. She had a good heart and she loved the Lord. Our deepest sympathy to all the family, you are all in our prayers. We will surely miss seeing Hazel at church.
