Jason Alexander Hubbard Jason Alexander Hubbard of Charlottesville, Virginia, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was 46. Jason was born on March 30, 1967, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. to Hugh and Mary Hubbard. They were a military family, and he and his sister, Leslie, grew up in military posts all over the Southern United States. His family settled in Shreveport, Louisiana, and he attended Caddo Parrish Magnet High School. He graduated from Centenary College with honors, and received a Master of Arts in Government and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. On June 12, 1993, he married Diane Sampson in the chapel at UVA. He was a long time employee of Lexis Nexis. When asked by his sons what he did there, he offered this -- "I am a problem solver and a computer geek." Jason had a edgy wit, and one could always count on a sharp observation or a lively story from him. He described himself as "an avid indoorsman" - he was most comfortable and content at home with his family. He was passionate about all aspects of movies, narrative and technical. He instilled this appreciation in his boys. He is survived by his wife, Diane Sampson; and his sons, Liam and Hugh of Charlottesville, Virginia. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Hubbard of Shreveport, Louisiana; and his brother-in-law, Mitch Pederson of Boyce, Louisiana. He was predeceased by his father, Hugh Hubbard; and his sister, Leslie Pederson. A service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1042 Preston Ave., Charlottesville, Virginia, at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014. Pastor Cass Bailey will preside. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Field School Scholarship Fund, The Field School of Charlottesville, P.O. Box 4234, Charlottesville, VA 22905. His sons attend Field school.
