Jean Findlay Obituary

Jean Findlay of Albemarle County, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville.

She was born February 13, 1920, in Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter of Ed and Clara Andersen Melvin.

She was Catholic, and an animal lover. During World War II she was a code breaker, and later was a Russian translator for the International Monetary Fund.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Findlay; and a son, Peter Findlay.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Richard A. Findlay and Ann Bretl of Waynesboro and Stuart E.G. and Dorothy Findlay of Staatsburg, New York; a sister, Bette Melvin of Arlington; and two granddaughters, Alyssa and Kerrie Findlay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2007, at St. John's Catholic Church by Fr. Rolo Castillo. Interment will be private at Monticello Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to your local S.P.C.A.
