Martha Faillace Obituary
Joann's special talent was creating a welcoming home for her family. She was a good cook, seamstress, and organizer. She made her home a place of hospitality not only for her family but for her children's friends, for school and church functions, for extended family, and for new in-laws. She even welcomed her children's pets with patience and humor. In addition, in whatever community they lived in, she always loved her church and gave many volunteer hours to seeing it thrive. Over the years, Joann often informally mentored younger women or cared for older people in the community.
Joann leaves behind her six children and their spouses, Carey (Rives) Bailey, Jim (Joanna) Faillace, Ed (Tracy Carey) Faillace, Janice (Kurt) Pfund, Tom (Cindy) Faillace, and Mike (Michele) Faillace. She also embraced 17 treasured grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 14, 2022, at Church of the Incarnation in Charlottesville. Visitation will be held at the church at 11 a.m., followed by a service at 12:15 p.m., with a reception afterward. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
The family is very grateful to the staff at the Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Care as well as the doctors and nurses in the Coronary Care Unit at UVA. Anyone wishing to honor Joann may make a donation in her name to Church of the Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation Drive, Charlottesville VA 22901, or Unbound (formerly Christian Foundation for Children and the Aging), 1 Elmwood Ave, Kansas City, KS 66103.
