Michael Mowbray Obituary
February 11, 1961 - November 2, 2021
Michael E. Mowbray, 60, of Charlottesville, Va., died at his home on November 2, 2021.
Born on February 11, 1961, in Richmond, Va., he was the son of Owen Kirk Mowbray and Florence "Peggy" Mowbray, who predeceased him.
Mike graduated from Charlottesville High School. He worked at UVA and for private contractors in construction and landscaping. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and a big fan of UVA sports and Washington Football. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
Mike is survived by his son, Matthew R. Mowbray of Waynesboro; his daughter, Sara L. Mowbray of Charlottesville; their mother, Debra Sellers Mowbray of Charlottesville; his grandchildren, Ryan, Noah, Gavin and Arya Mowbray, all of Charlottesville; and his brothers, Garth L. Wheeler and James E. Wheeler, both of Urbana, Va.
Special thanks to Mike's friends and neighbors for their friendship and kindness.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Hill & Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Hill & Wood.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I met 'Mike Mike' years ago while growing up in the Locust Ave area. He would join my brothers, me and others for yard kickball and football. Our paths crossed again in recent years as he would frequent Chapman Grove Baptist Church. He was a wonderful and kind person. Gone too soon, but God loved him best. I knew Mike for many years. From playing HS Football and Baseball at Rock Hill to hunting and fishing trips on the James River. Deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Rest in Peace Mikey MoMo.
