Patsy Haney Carratt

February 8, 1934 - June 27, 2021

Our beloved mother, Patsy Haney Carratt, 87, of Charlottesville, left us peacefully, surrounded by her family on her journey to Heaven on June 27, 2021. She knew she was awaited by the Lord and those of her family who preceded her. Throughout her life she was a devoted Christian, reading the bible daily. Our mother was one of the strongest and kindest of women; our family was blessed to have her, as she loved nothing better than being in the company of friends and family.



She graduated from McIntire High School in 1951 and held various administrative jobs in Charlottesville and Washington, D.C. Upon returning to Charlottesville, she met our dad and together they had four children and raised their family in the Greek Orthodox faith.



Patsy was the daughter of the late Floyd S. and Fannie S. Haney. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Samuel C. Carratt Jr. and son, Samuel C. Carratt III. She is survived by her two sisters, Barbara H. Pugh and Betty H. Blincoe (Paul) of Charlottesville. and a brother F. Randall "Randy" Haney (Ginny) of Howardsville, Virginia. She is also survived by her daughters, Cheryl Swisher and Melanie Carratt (Dennis); son, Craig Carratt (Miriam) all of Charlottesville, many family members, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



We wish to say a very special thank you with immense gratitude to Joyce Jones for her loving care as mom's best friend and companion for over 12 years and Dr. Jonathan Evans for his compassion and excellent care.



At her request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 100 Perry Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22902 or a charity of choice.
