Raymond Edward Johnson, 76, of Scottsville, VA, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at his home. Raymond was born May 31, 1949, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Charlie and Fannie Neil Johnson. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and special friend, David Spradlin. Raymond is survived by his sisters, Ruby Melton and Mary Roach; brothers, Albert and Kenny (Linda) Johnson; also numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kathy Hughes. Raymond worked at Barnes Lumber Company, then at UVA in the Environmental Section, where he ultimately retired from. Raymond loved to garden, yard work, and most of all, he loved to feed the squirrels and birds in his yard, he had a great passion for feeding them. The family of Raymond would like to thank Nurse, David especially, but all of the Nurses and Caregivers at Hospice of the Piedmont for taking exceptional care for Raymond.

There will be a graveside service for Raymond on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Monticello Memory Gardens, 670 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, VA 22902, with the Rev. Lindsay Ellis presiding.

I am so sorry to hear of Raymond´s passing. He wa a really sweet person. When I lived in Belmont, he mowed my grass. Always had a smile on his face. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family
