The Reverend George Edward Reynolds, 95, went peacefully to his eternal home onThursday, July 7, 2016.He was born on October 2, 1920, a son of the late J.B and Lillie Jackson Reynolds at Kenmore Wood, Spotsylvania.He was called to the ministry at age 17. Hewas graduated from Varina High School and the University of Richmond. Ordained by Biltmore Baptist Church in Glen Allen, he attended Southern Baptist Seminaryin Louisville, Ky. and was graduated from Southeastern Baptist Seminary at Wake Forest in 1954. He received a M.Ed from University of Virginia in 1974.For 42 years, Rev. Reynolds served as pastor of rural churches in Virginia and North Carolina. After retirement inScottsville, Va. with his dear wife, Minnie, he served fourteen interim pastorates including one interim in Calif. and one in Schweinfurt, Germany. His ministry covered a span of 68 years.In addition to his parents, The Rev. Reynolds was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Minnie Hildebrand Reynolds; three brothers, Benjamin L. Reynolds, the Rev. Richard L. Reynolds, and Joseph J. Reynolds; and two sisters, Margaret Reynolds Kinsley, and Mary Reynolds Hughes.He is survived by adult children, Mary Kathryn Reynolds McIvor of Gladys, VA, Army Chaplain Col. Charles EdwardReynolds and wife, Marcia, of Columbia, S.C., and Jean Reynolds Yeager and husband, Kevin of Chesterfield, Va.;grandchildren, Erin Norfleet, Katie Norfleet, Jordan Reynolds and wife, Caitlin, Jillian Reynolds, Robert Yeager and wife, Brandi, Forest Yeager, and Jenna Yeager; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Yeager, Isabelle Marquez and Warren Edward Reynolds;his nephew, Billy Hughes and wife, Margaret, gave active and loving support throughout his lifetime. His family is appreciative of his special friendship with Lila Jennings Rose in the final years of his life.A memorial service will be held at3 p.m. onSunday, July 10, 2016, atBelmont Baptist Church, 830 Monticello Ave., Charlottesville, Va.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Belmont Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
