Ronny was a truly amazing person and will be missed by many. He was a very close friend to my deceased husband (Carroll). They were the best of hunting pals calling their little group "The Deadeye Hunt Club". This consisted of Ronny, Carroll , Uncle Woody , Uncle Massie, Jerry and Jimmy. I also remember how we would get together at your house then ours every other weekend for dinner and Ronny and Carroll would have their little card games.
So sorry for your loss and wishing you and your family peace and comfort as you recall all the wonderful times you have had together .

Dear Byrum family. My Mother, Ellen Daniel, was Elna, Ronnie's Mother's 1st cousin in Madison County. Her name was Ellen Daniel Hawkins. Her younger sister is Mary Lou Daniel Deane. Mom's and Mary Lou's nephews are Joe Ray Daniel of Culpeper and Eddie Daniel of Orange, VA. The Daniel family had a reunion in 2023 in Shelby, VA and met Zane Byrum. He is a nice member of our family I had not met. Ronnie was a role model during his life and will be missed. It is an honor to read and share his life time of involvement in so many ways. Ronnie was a dear friend of our family for many years. He and his family lived down the road from us for many years. When my dad became bed ridden Ronnie would come by and sit with him for a while which meant a great deal to him. He was always there if you needed something all you had to do is ask. Ronnie you will be missed and may you rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers to all the family.

Knew Ronnie in high school and was a good friend during those years. Played a joke on me that I laugh about today . My brother was at a camp in Luray and at the end of the week Mother, who was his English teacher, and I drove to pick him up.. as I was driving through Luray , I was blue lighted from behind and came to stop. Police car behind me , another one blocked me in the front and one pulled up beside me .. being about 17 , I was scared to death. Ronnie had seen us and decided to play the joke by having 2 of his buddies block me in and the 3rd car that pulled up beside me was Ronnie . Looked over , he tipped his hat, smiled . The other two cars left and after my heart rate went down, Ronnie became to the car laughing and we had a great visit.. I saw him somewhere years later and he laughed at the prank he pulled ! I am so sorry to hear of his death

Ronny was a great man and an outstanding law enforcement officer. His son, Scott, was truly a chip off the old block. I attended several "retired law enforcement breakfasts" with Ronny and many other wonderful officers, and I absolutely enjoyed every conversation we shared. He had a long and rewarding journey, and he earned the right to cross over the river and rest in the shade of the trees. I´ll miss you, my friend. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Dallas and I met Ronnie and Jo Ann Byram when Dallas was assigned to Buchanan County out of basic school. This was the beginning of a life long friendship which we treasured. My heart is broken but I know that he is in a better place.
Love, Carolyn Church
