Roy McDaniel Obituary

Roy Samuel McDaniel Sr., 69, of Charlottesville, died Friday, December 28, 2007, at his home.

Born October 14, 1938, in Bath County, he was the son of the late Henry Milton and Frances Hodge McDaniel and was the husband of the late Glynn McDaniel. In addition, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Carter McDaniel, Edison McDaniel, and Lanier McDaniel; one sister-in-law, Barbara McDaniel; and two grandchildren, Becky Jo and Kody.

He is survived by four daughters, Debbie Johnson, Tina Riner and her husband, Duke, Melonie Ballowe and Norman Ballowe, and Kristina McDaniel; four sons, Roy McDaniel Jr., Ronnie McDaniel, Michael Lee Hodnett and his wife, Kathy, and Tim McKinnley; three sisters, Reba Cammock and her husband, Herbie, Shirley Terry and her husband, Everett, and Carol Ward and her husband, J.W.; one brother, James McDaniel; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2007, at the Teague Chapel. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007, at the Teague Funeral Home.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont and a very special thank you to Linda Payne. Their presence allowed Roy to remain at home as he wished.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Piedmont, 2200 Old Ivy Road, Suite 2, Charlottesville, VA 22903.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in your time of grief. What a terrible time to lose a loved one but I pray he is in a better place and not suffering

sorry to hear about your loss. roy was a good friend of mine. i just talk to him a couple weeks ago. we use to dx car together.i will miss him.
