Sean Lawson Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share our beloved son and brother, Sean Martin Lawson, left with the angels on October 15, 2025. He was born in Fairfax, VA on March 12,1989 to Joseph and Marie Lawson.

Sean was extremely bright and recruited for the gifted program when he was in second grade. In high school, he played football and was on the wrestling team but was more of a gentle giant with a mischievous nature. Sean attended James Madison University and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. He lived in Virginia until 2015 when he moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, for new opportunities and returned home to Virginia in 2022. His last year was spent in Placerville, California.

Sean was known for his quick wit, incredible sense of humor, endearing personality, and love of music. He was adoringly clever and boldly venturesome. With a magnetic charm and infectious giggle, he would make you feel at ease. To know him was to love him. He was a social creature who seamlessly integrated into any gathering and was never overlooked in a crowded room. Sean was the kind of person both people and pets loved having around.

He will be lovingly remembered by his father, Joseph M. Lawson; mother, Marie E. Lawson; sister, Hannah M. Lawson; brother, William Riley G. Lawson; and niece, Ella Mae Zeller. He has been reunited for eternity with his maternal grandparents, Mary Frances G. Parrott and Martin T. Graham and his paternal grandparents, Robert A. Lawson and Harriet J. Lawson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Park Street Christian Church, 1200 Park Street, Charlottesville, VA, 22901.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to On Our Own, a peer recovery center and supportive community at onourowncville.org or to a local animal rescue organization.
