Zoe Adaline Louise Smith, 14, of Charlottesville Va., died on November 11, 2018, at home in the loving arms of her parents. Born on November 16, 2003, in Boulder, Colorado, she was the daughter of Kim Earhart and Greg Smith. She leaves behind her mother, father, sister, and her community that loved her dearly. From the time of birth, she taught us the lessons of sacrifice, love and the importance of laughter. As a baby, she loved the warmth of snuggling and to be close to her momma, daddy and big sister Sofia. Claiming the space next to momma first. At the age of 2, she fell in love with horses and by the time she was 3, she was riding on her "unicorns" in the fields. By 5, she had already mastered speed and skill on the slopes of the mountains with her daddy. Once Zoe moved to Virginia, in 2008, she began weaving her natural networking skills, to build community and deep friendships, all around her. She loved kayaking in the rivers, bringing community together, making videos with her friends and sister, riding horses, her beloved dog, Nina, playing soccer, going to the beach with all her peeps, her beloved Waldorf school, playing her cello, bringing fun and laughter to all she met. She was a master at fun and trickery! Always reminding everyone to live with more love and joy. She was a radiant graduate of the 8th grade class, in the Spring of 2018 from the Charlottesville Waldorf School. Thank you for all the doctors and nurses at UNC, Chapel Hill. Namely Dr. Hayes-Jordan and the stellar nurse, Asya Sal. Also all the prayers that went out for Zoe from all over the world. A memorial "Going Home" celebration will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018, from 1:30 until 5 p.m. at Sugar Hollow Girl Scout Camp, 6351 Sugar Hollow Rd., Crozet, VA 22932. Zoe is survived by her mother and father, Kim Earhart and Greg Smith; sister, Sofia Smith; maternal grandmother and Poppie, Betty "BB" Brown Cottle and Scott Cottle; maternal grandfather, John H Earhart and Patsy Earhart; paternal grandparents, Karolyn and Bob Smith, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and all of her community who loved her dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Zoe's GoFundMe page, to help towards medical expenses.
