George S. Huffert

George S. Huffert passed away suddenly on February 8, 2013 at his home. He was 66 years young. George was born in Dover to the late George T. and Lillian (Caskey) Huffert. He grew up in Roxbury and has lived in Lake Hopatcong for the past 10 years. George served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era and worked as a truck driver for County Concrete Corporation in Kenvil.

He was a member of the Mine Hill American Legion Post 391 and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 863. George's favorite past times were spending time with his loved ones, riding his Harleys and going to antique car shows.

Pre-deceased by his brother Lee. He is survived by five children: Michelle Melendez and her husband Angelo of Tobyhanna, PA; George and his wife Lauri of Cary, NC; Robert of Lake Hopatcong; Wendy Militello and her husband Jason of Cresco, PA; and Heidi Zacharias and her husband Kevin of Albrightsville, PA. George was also survived by ten grandchildren: Nicolas, Cody and Rebecca Melendez of Tobyhanna, PA; Ryan and Samantha Whitley & Joseph Tierney of Cresco, PA; Hannah and Peyton Zacharias of Albrightsville; PA, Stellan Huffert of Cary, NC and Chase Huffert of Hillsdale, NJ. He was also survived by companion Flo Kennedy; two Brothers; Oran Huffert of Tampa, FL and Eric Huffert of Manning, SC and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. Funeral Service will be held today 10am at the funeral home, with the interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in George's memory to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
