Dear Lois - when Ralph "adopted Tim and Kim," he became a family member to all of us - he attended graduation parties, birthday parties, sports events and sometimes just a quiet dinner with us. My son, Nathan, thought the sun rose and set with Ralphy! Ralph would sit beside Nathan's wheelchair and include Nathan in every conversation. Ralph was the kindest man I ever have known. He and Nathan's father, Frank, became close friends as well and spent hours talking about hunting. I have a beautiful photo of the two of them that I will scan so you can have a copy. Ralph did not have one single unkind thought in his life - he loved everyone and everyone loved him. We all will miss him so much. I had hoped for a summer visit this year but it is not to be. Perhaps Ralph and Frank are again talking about their hunting adventures - I certainly hope so. Our love to you - Nancy

Dear Lois, Ralph was one of my favorite people. I know him from the Seabright Rod and Gun club in Warren Grove NJ. God bless you for taking care of him in his time of need. My prayers are with you and your family and of course for Ralph. We still talk about him today.

Dear Lois & Family, We knew Ralph when he lived in Bethel, Vermont. It was a privilege and honor to have known him. He was a very kind and caring man. He loved Vermont; his heart was here in the Green Mountains. He "adopted" our daughter, Kim, and son-in-law, Tim Aldgrighetti. We still remember his wonderful smile and sense of humor. Kind regards, Chuck & Sandy Adams

Dear Aunt Lois,
Thank you for always loving and caring for your brother and my Uncle Ralph. You kept his life light burning over the past 10 years. I know that your grief is great and it is my hope that this entry will soothe some of your pain by remembering the good times and wonderful life that Uncle Ralph led in his healthy years. Truly something to celebrate!
I will always think of Uncle Ralph as a gentle giant. A tall man with a kind smile and strong hands. He said what he meant and meant what he said. When I was a little girl I remember the familly get togethers and Uncle Ralph amusing us with his frightening, adventuresome hunting stories (sometimes embellished upon making them even more fun). In fact, taking it a bit further, I recall when he would proudly deliver us a deer carcass and butcher it himself. My brothers were fascinated and excited by the mystery of hunting and watching the blood and guts as steaks were created right in front of them. I was scared and mostly grossed out but none-the-less enamored by my tough Uncle Ralph, hunter extraordinaire and man of the outdoors.
My favorite memory as an adult is when I brought my children, Tiffany and Eric to Bethel, Vermont for a week to visit with their Great Uncle Ralph. We had an awesome time! He took us to his favorite diners, sports shops, fishing holes, hiking trails, museums, Morgan breeding farm and much more. When I think about it I can still smell the musky air in his rustic cabin.
Everywhere we went people knew Uncle Ralph and he proudly introduced us to everyone. We went fishing, hiking, and mountain climbing and even caught a frog. He never ran out of energy or hugs and kisses for Tiffany and Eric. He wrestled with them and teased them and had many surprise treats and sweets for all of us. Truly a cherished quality time.
I shall miss my sweet Uncle sorely. It strikes me that in our recent conversations he never complained about his ailments. He always wanted to hear about the family and my life and he would tell me about you, my dear Aunt Lois. Much like an angel Uncle Ralph accepted his lot and life and lived in silent pain remaining selflessly concerned about others and what they were going through.
It broke everyone's hearts (including his own) as Glaucoma slowly stole away Uncle Ralph's eye site. He is blind no more. He is now one with God and nature and sees all. Uncle Ralph is free once more and soaring in the heavens.
I have been blessed to have know Ralph Whipple and have my life touched in so many ways through him. He showed me how to be brave and grateful for the joys in life and nature. Uncle Ralph, you will always be loved and held near and dear in my heart. I rejoice for your newfound freedom from this life. You will be missed but never forgotten.

We will always have fond memories of Ralph. Ralph loved his Vermont town of Bethel. He had many stories of the locals, of staying at the Bethel Inn, hunting on Christian Hill, and later in life, all the sporting events he attended with us at Whitcomb High Scool. He had a wonderful smile, and was always a friend to everyone he met. We will miss him dearly, but know that he is in a peaceful place. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family.
