I will surely miss Aunt Rita! I remember when she and Grandma used to take Thomas and Andrea to park when they were little. Aunt Rita and I used to walk everyday after work we did more talking than walking but it sure was fun! Xxo

Some of my most vivid childhood memories were spent at Uncle Babe's and Aunt Rita's house in Rockaway. My father Jack and mother Ellen, (Rita's sister) would take us kids from Shore Hills to visit and give us cousins a chance to play together. There was tag and hide-and-seek and I can still picture the road curve in front of the house. Some of my best memories we're playing with Debbie, Scott and Jerry down in their basement with slot cars and Rock'em sock'em robots. Our moms would make lasagna and stuffed cabbage. On some occasions my uncle Larry's boys and other cousins would be there too and we shared a lot of great family moments. I remember all of us going up Hibernia Hill to visit the grave sites and paying respect to our other deceased relatives. My mother Ellen passed away in 2008 and now with the passing of Rita there is so much family history that is lost from the lack of someone to share their stories with us. I always felt with the loss of my own mom that one of the best things a child can do for their parent is be with them in their later years when they need more help and love than ever. I've spoken to Debi many times over the years and I know she was there right till the end for her mom. I haven't had contact with Jerry and Scott over the years and I want to tell them both how sorry I am for the loss of their mom. To Emilee and the rest of the grandchildren, I'm sorry for the loss of your grandma. Debbie and I have spoken and shared our feelings. I pray for peace for the Ferrone/ Burke family, and may Rita rest in peace with her brothers, sisters, and her mother and father. May God hold them all in his hands. There's no words that can describe the greatness of Irish woman and their capacity for love and motherhood.
