Sherry Adelle (Lemmen) Lutchansky

AGE: 80 • Randolph

Sherry Adelle (Lemmen) Lutchansky, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's hospital after a week of loving care from her family, the hospice staff, and services from the Complimentary Center. Sherry was 80 years old. Raised in Michigan, the daughter of the late George and Mildred Lemmen, Sherry was a gifted artist. After attending Cass Technical High School she worked producing fashion illustrations and copy for clothing store ads. She later worked at the Visual Art Center at Michigan State University. She married Milton, her loving husband of nearly 60 years, in 1952. In 1960 they relocated to Morristown, New Jersey, then settled in Randolph for Milton's job at Bell Labs in Whippany. Sherry then took time off to raise her children. While son Gary and daughter Julie were in high school, Sherry earned degrees in Biology and Computer Science with a 4.0 GPA at County College of Morris. She then worked as a software developer for 15 years at Bell Labs and later, Telcordia, on the COSMOS project where she had many dear friends.

Sherry was predeceased by her infant son Joseph, and was the loving mother of her children Gary Lutchansky (wife Heather Rogers) and Julie Swenson (husband Brad). She was adored by grandchildren Daniel and Gil Swenson, Noah Lutchansky, and Olivia Rogers. Survived also by Paul and Alice Swenson, their daughter Jessica Swenson (husband Jason Pagano) and their daughter Lillian, along with many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Sherry created beautiful needlework pieces, was a wonderful cook, and loved to host neighborhood parties, work parties, and family gatherings. She was a member of Hadassah for many years, providing artist services, and volunteered as a Girl Scout leader. Sherry and Milt enjoyed traveling and visiting their vacation home on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. She will be remembered for her creativity, sense of humor, and the care and love she showed those around her.

A memorial service will be held at the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ, on Sunday, January 8, 2012. Open reception from 9:30a.m.-12:30p.m. with a sharing time at 10:30a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up to support the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice, the Complimentary Center at St. Clare's Hospital, and the Morris Museum.
