Arnold Longacre Obituary

Arnold Allen Longacre, 93 passed away November 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was a tenderhearted, thoughtful, loving, and devoted man that will be dearly missed by all.
He was born on October 22, 1924, to Grady and Eva (Dutton) Longacre in Waterville, Washington. He grew up learning the value of hard work and spent his early years helping on the family wheat farm. During these years he developed a love affair with horses that lasted a life time. He was a master at driving a 21 horse hitch to harvest wheat. His calming demeanor and gentle hands skillfully trained horses in a variety of events such as rodeo, pleasure riding and horse racing.
He attended school in Waterville. His first winter after high school was spent feeding cattle in a remote farmstead on Badger Mountain. He met and married the love of his life Marian Lucille Lindell in 1945.
Arnold worked many professions in numerous communities in Washington while he and Marian raised four children. They milked cows for many years on a dairy in Stevens County. In Wenatchee they operated an apple orchard at Rocky Reach Dam and in Soap Lake they grew hay. In Ellensburg he owned and operated Horseshoer Supply and raised Corriente cattle.
Marian preceded Arnold in death in 1991. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wesley, Gene and Don, sisters Claudia and Lorna Wiley and grandchildren Michelle, Dane and Shanna.
He is survived by daughters Linda (Dennis) Young, Pasco and Nicalee (Steve) Smith, Ellensburg. sons Russell Longacre, Tri-Cities and Richard (Donna) Longacre, Longview. 9 grandchildren including David (Kristi) Young and Amy (Lee) Johnson, Kari (Brian) Finney, Brooke (Tommy) Wilzen, Eric, Dustin and Camron Longacre, Casey (Courtney) Smith and Jennifer (Eric) Truhlicka. 11 great grandchildren including Dalton, Lane, Curtis, Cooper, Wyatt, Quade, Colton, Ryder, Teague, Gracie and Tucker. Many brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Also survived by his second family of 25 years are his special friend Carolyn Hayes, Ellensburg and her children Melissa Hayes, Ellensburg, Brian Hayes and his daughter Maylee, Finley.
The family thanks the caring KVH doctors and staff as well as the EMT and ER teams.
Graveside services will be held November 21, 1:00 pm at IOOF Cemetery in Ellensburg

Rick, Nicalee & familyOur hearts are sad to learn of your father's passing. No matter how old we are when we lose a parent, their absence in our lives leaves a hole that can't filled by anyone. They are special. Reading about his life here, it's obvious just how special your father was & his influence on his family was central to who you are. Frank and I know you both to be very gentle, kind and funpeople enjoy being with you. I can tell your dad was the same. He left a great legacy in his family. We pray God will give you and your family peace and strength in the days ahead as you grieve the loss of your precious father.
