Jerold "Jerry" D. Barton, 78, a lifetime resident of Kittitas County, passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2022, at his home with his wife Diane by his side.
Jerry was born September 10, 1943 and grew up in Kittitas. Later moving to Ellensburg where he and Diane raised their seven children.
From a young age Jerry loved the ocean, his heart was always at sea. He was the most at ease, on the jetty looking out, pondering life. Much of his free time was spent with his family and dogs boating, exploring different islands around the Puget Sound, San Juans, and up to Canada. He was a talented musician with the natural ability to play guitar and bass. Throughout his adult life he played bass guitar in multiple country western bands all over Kittitas County.
Jerry spent a lot of time enjoying nature, he had a special place in his heart for all animals. He loved taking care of the birds in his yard and his dogs. Tending to his rose gardens and manicuring his yard was his favorite way to relax. Jerry enjoyed collecting stones to add to his garden while traveling with his wife Diane around the world. While working at Sears at the age of 21, Jerry became a successful businessman who started his Real Estate and Rental career, over a cup of coffee and with a handshake.
He is loved and cherished by his family and admired by many who had the chance to know him. He is survived by his wife Diane, children: Lisa (Sam) Gutherie, Carla (Brent) Pharis, Chris (Danni) Barton, Marilyn (Sietse) Bartsma, Brandon Barton, and Karina (DJ) Misner. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 4 siblings: Alden (Valerie) Barton, Ava Johnson, Doris Whiting, and Beulah (Don) Johnson, many nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in Death by his parents, Howard and Zella Barton, brother Kenny, sister Lorene and his eldest son Ricky. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
