John Gustafson Obituary
John Philip Gustafson (Phil) of Ellensburg WA died suddenly on, July 7th, 2023.
He was born at Swedish Hospital, Seattle WA on November 29th, 1933, to John and Mia Gustafson.
Phil attended college at Oregon State University in Corvallis OR and received his Master of Science Degree on June 6th, 1960.
He met his wife, Roberta York at church, and they were married on December 18th, 1954, in Corvallis OR. They had 2 sons, Gary and Doyle.
Phil began his teaching career at Oregon City High School where he taught science and math. He received an invitation to teach at Northwest Bible College (Northwest University) in 1966 and moved the family to Kirkland, Washington. Phil eventually became the head of the math department while continuing to teach science and painted houses with Doyle for supplemental income.
He retired from teaching in 1999 and continued his passion for photography, golf and spending time with his large family.
He is survived by his wife, both sons, their wives, 9 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.
A service is to be held on Friday July 21st , 2023 (corrected date), starting at 1:00 pm at Family Christian Center, 701 E. Capitol Ave, Ellensburg, WA 98926.
The service will be streamed live for those who are unable to attend on YouTube @ Family Christian Center (FCC).
Flowers or gifts are welcome at the church with gifts made out to the mission program at the church. The family thanks you for your prayers and support.
