Robert Newcomb Obituary

Robert "Rob" Allen Newcomb, 62, passed away peacefully at the family home, surrounded by his loved ones with the sun shining on his face on Friday, October 3rd, 2025.

Rob was born on June 6, 1963, in Spokane, WA. Rob lived a full life, devoted to his family. After family, his passions were hunting, fishing and boating. Rob will be remembered for his love of making sausage and jerky from the elk and deer he proudly brought home. Rob also loved making pickles. You counted yourself as lucky when he shared his delicious bounties. You also counted yourself lucky if you got to enjoy the food he loved to cook like seafood, chicken wings and french fries.

Rob grew to enjoy caring for the lawn and put much energy and time into watering, mowing and trimming. He was proud of his beautiful green lawn.

At a young age, Rob started life on his own. He moved from Spokane to Ellensburg where he met the love of his life, Robin Hayes. They married in 1987 and soon moved to Kent, where he obtained his GED and graduated from South Seattle Community College as a certified diesel mechanic. Rob's first job as a mechanic was for the City Transfer of Kent and then Ryder Trucking in Tukwila. After their second child was born, Rob and Robin decided to come home to Ellensburg where their youngest child was born. Rob then transferred to Ryder Trucking in Yakima. He went on to purchase the Polaris shop. Rob's profession as a diesel mechanic continued at Okanogan Seattle Transport, eventually purchasing S and S Diesel. Robin always said Rob could fix anything.

Survivors include his wife Robin; children Louie (Krystal) Newcomb, Jered (Haley) Newcomb and Rachel (Dom) Bannister; parents, Robert "Bob" Newcomb and Margaret "Gladys" Mulberry; siblings Jolene (Tracy) Williams, Denis (Denise) Newcomb and Chris Newcomb. Rob discovered a new passion when he became "Papa" to his grandchildren; Jimmy, Quinton, Madi, J.P., Daemon and Olianna. Rob shared a special bond with his mother-in-law, Molly. After she passed, he and Robin purchased her home. They happily opened their home and continued to host family gatherings. Rob's beloved dogs Gizzy and Dolly, two of a long line of dogs, were an important part of his life as well.

Survivors also include in-laws; Marsha (Joe) Weyand, Pam (Larry) Bailes, Pat (Ray) Rominger. Rob loved all of his nieces and nephews; Stephanie, Sara, Cassie, Rob G. (Little Rob), April, Brett, Josh, Jake, Chris, Sam, Summer and Emma.

To say Rob will be missed is an understatement. He will forever be remembered with deep love and fondness by his family and friends.

Viewing will be on Friday, October 10, at the Kittitas Community Church from 12 - 2 pm. A graveside service will follow at I.O.O.F Cemetery at 3 pm.
