Samuel Scott Obituary

Sam Scott, son of Roy C. and Lila (Paine) Scott, died peacefully on the evening of February 20, 2009, surrounded by family at his home. Born February 11, 1928 in North Dakota, Sam moved to Washington State at the age of four. Sam, along with his parents and 6 siblings, farmed various locations throughout the Kittitas Valley. He was drafted into the army in 1942. After spending a brief time in Japan at the end of World War II, he returned to Cle Elum and began a lifelong career of farming, logging, heavy equipment operating, and working as a mechanic. Sam married Gloria Jane (Willis) Scott in 1949 and together they raised 3 children at their Peoh Point home.

A hard-working, inquisitive man, Sam never fully retired and worked until 2 days before his death. He spent his days working in his shop, fine-tuning his inventions, fixing whatever came his way, and talking with neighbors, friends, and family.

Sam is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, 5 siblings, 3 children (and their spouses), 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom were special to him.

A Memorial Service will be held March 3, 2009 at the Upper Kittitas County Senior Center, 719 E 3rd Street in Cle Elum, at 11 am.
