Catherine Mason Obituary
Catherine Doss Mason, age 91, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Eupora.
She was born June 20, 1924, in Calhoun County the daughter of the late Susie Mae Mixon and Oscar Cornelius Doss. She was a manager for Fred's in West Point and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in the Cumberland Community of Webster County. She married James Walter "Jim" Oswalt November 6, 2004, at Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Joe Mason; by one son, Joe Carroll Mason; by three sisters: Evelyn Jeffcoat, Gladys Partridge, and Sue Alexander; and by two brothers: Oscar and Junior "Roy" Doss.
Funeral services are Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harvey Overstreet officiating and assisted by Rev. Adam Berry. Burial will follow in the Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, James "Jim" Oswalt of Mathiston; two step-daughters; Dorrine LeBlanc (Robert) and Dia Harmon (Tommy) both of Greenville: two step-sons, Steve Oswalt (Margaret) of Grenada, and Jeff Oswalt (Pam) of Greenville, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Daniel White, Daniel Wilson, Dillon Williams, Matt Doss, Terry Doss, and Jeff Oswalt.
Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Doss, Billy Doss, Jimmy Doss, Tommy Doss, Mark Owens, and Danny Owens.
Memorials may be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Mississippi, 1907 Dunbarton Drive; Suite C, Jackson, MS 39216 or to The Lupus Foundation of Mississippi, 5295 Galaxie Drive; #E1, Jackson, MS 39206.
Visitation is Wednesday, from 1 - 2 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
