Errol Smith Obituary

Errol Wayne Smith was born on May 21, 1941, in Fairview, Oklahoma to Waymon and Wilma Koehn Smith. He quietly passed away on January 25, 2022, at BeeHive Homes in Starkville, Mississippi at the age of eighty years.
He spent his childhood years enjoying life on the farm. He received his formal education at various places starting at the Progressive school in Fairview, Oklahoma.
On February 14, 1955, he was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite by Minister Elmer Boehs. His Christian life had some challenges, but he endeavored to keep the faith until the end.
On November 23, 1968, he was married to Patricia Breazeale. We enjoyed life together for 53 years.
Dad was a kind and compassionate man. He was very gentle and enjoyed his family. He loved to tease and was known for his bear hugs. Dad acquired many friendships in life and was known as a quiet but outgoing man. As siblings, we always enjoyed his calls on our birthdays.
As a youth he went to work for his uncle and aunt, Melvin and Kathryn Hiebert in Walnut Hill, Florida, which he enjoyed. He spent two years of alternative service in Denver Colorado. Through life he had different occupations. After he and Patricia were married, he worked as a land leveler in Leland for a short time. He then worked on a dairy farm in Michigan and followed with a purchase of his own dairy farm in Wisconsin. Then in 1977, together with his family they moved to West Point, Mississippi, where he was a soybean farmer, a truck driver and then an owner/operator of a bakery for 23 years. The latter part of his life he drove truck until his health no longer allowed him to continue. He spent the last 2 years of his life in BeeHive Homes of Starkville, Mississippi.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Breazeale Smith of West Point: three sons: Nelson Smith of West Point, Eric Smith and wife Susan of Starkville, Mississippi, Van Harlan Smith and wife Kimberly of Pheba, Mississippi, One daughter: Kerrie Smith of West Point, Mississippi. Five grandchildren: Cecelia and husband Joseph Philips, Ethan Smith, Evelyn Grace Smith, Elijah Walker Smith, and Morgan Smith. Five sisters: Leann and husband, Wayne Litwiller of Dumas, Arkansas, Sherry and husband Vernon Shaffer of Barron, Wisconsin, Nancy and husband Norman Litwiller of West Point, Mississippi, Linda and husband, Weston Friesen, of Grant, Nebraska, and Glenda and husband Melvin Ensz of Inman, Kansas. A brother: Lyle Smith and wife Sherlyn, of Liberty, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Gary, and a sister Janice Middaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM at the West Point Mennonite Church, West Point, Mississippi on January 29, 2022 with Ministers Mark Koehn and Errol Wedel officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in West Point. Memorials may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital PO Box 1000 Dept. 42 Memphis, TN 38105 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation t2t.org.
