Michael J. Brown, 64, passed away on August 19, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. He was born in June of 1957 to Dorothy Sanders Brown and Hansel Brown in Aberdeen. On June 22, 1995, he married April Tipton.
Mike was the most loving husband, caring brother and kind friend. He was a very selfless person always putting others first. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and always saw the beauty in nature. Mike was also an avid animal lover who had two special pets that passed before him, Applejack and Lovey. But it was Rufus and Johnnie Pearl that were by side until his death. They will surely miss him as will everyone who knew Mike.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, April Tipton Brown of Pheba; 2 sons, Joseph Brown (Jessica) of Joliet, IL and Matthew Brown (Cathy) of Montgomery, TX; 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Zander, Hayden, Micah and Jewel; 3 sisters, Phylliss White, Diann Reese and Mary Kay Elmore; 2 brothers, Tex and Ronny Brown; a host of nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Libby Tipton and sister-in-law, Holly Simmons. Preceding him in death were his parents and one grandson, Robert Patrick Brown.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Friends at Tin Lizzie, Co-Workers at Steel Dynamics Inc., The Barton Ferry Crew, Edward Ayers and Gene Swindol.
Memorials may be made to West Point Animal Shelter, 5122 Old Tibbee Road, West Point, MS 39773 or The Baptist Children's Village, 114 Marketridge Drive, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
