Carol Lyn (Baier) Roum Cape Haze, FL - Carol Lyn Roum (Baier), 81, of Placida, FL., passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Minnetonka, Minnesota, on May 20, 2025. She was born in
Fort Atkinson, WI on November 4, 1943, to the late Robert W and Wilma J (Kiester) Baier. Carol graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1961 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she met her husband, Charles Martin Roum, whom she married on June 6th, 1964, in
Fort Atkinson, WI. Carol and Chuck raised their children in Greenfield, WI where she was a stay-at-home mom, active in women's clubs, and loved coaching girls' softball. She returned to college to finish her degree when her kids were in college. She graduated in 1991 from Alverno College with a BA in Psychology and a master's degree (1995) in Social Work from the UW-Milwaukee. A highlight of her time at Alverno was a trip to Russia. After graduation, she worked in domestic abuse and eventually returned to Alverno to teach psychology. Carol and Chuck enjoyed taking motorcycle trips, showing their little red boat, and traveling to warm and wonderful places. Carol retired to her little piece of paradise - an island on the Gulf Coast of Florida. There was nothing more important to Carol than her family. Carol is survived by her son, Mark (Michelle) Roum of Greer, SC, and daughter, Jenny (Paul) Mattiacci of Minnetonka, MN. Grandchildren: Matt (Allison) Mattiacci, Nick Mattiacci, Elizabeth Roum (Tony), Meghan Roum, and Claire Roum. Great Grandchild: Charles (Charlie) Mattiacci. She is also survived by her brother, Randy Baier, and nieces, nephew, and grandnieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Roum, her parents, Robert and Wilma Baier, and her sister-in-law, Sharon Baier. Thank you to Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital Hospice.
