Augustine "Sis" Richard Bergeron

ARNAUDVILLE - Funeral services will be held Monday, July 4, 2011 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Augustine "Sis" Richard Bergeron, age 78, the former Augustine Theresa Richard, who passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia.

Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Keenan Brown, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Frannie Hoffman and Heidi Olivier. The eulogy will be led by Patricia Mouille. Giftbearers will be Cassie Soignier, Hanna Olivier, and Zachary Mouille.

Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus. The songs will be Ave Maria, Isaiah 49, Yahweh You Are Near, I Have Loved You and Be Not Afraid.

Mrs. Bergeron was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville. Together with her husband, Raymond, "Sis" owned and operated the Bergeron Grocery Store on Hwy 31 between Arnaudville and Leonville for more than forty years. Mrs. Bergeron was also a substitute bus driver for her husband, Raymond, for over twenty-five years. During the last decade of her husband's life, "Sis" took wonderful and loving care of her husband prior to his death.

Survivors include one son, Bobby Bergeron and his wife, Julie, of Arnaudville; four daughters, Donna Soignier and her husband, Butch, of Breaux Bridge, Elizabeth Richard and her husband, Jim, of Lafayette, Dottie Olivier of Lafayette and Patricia Mouille and her husband, Michael, of Broussard; eleven grandchildren, Cassie Soignier, Frannie Hoffman, Bobby Bergeron, Jr., Garrett Bergeron, Derek Bergeron, Jake Richard, Clint Richard, Hanna Olivier, Travis "T.J." Olivier, Heidi Olivier and Zachary Mouille; seven great grandchildren; and one brother, Antoine Richard of Arnaudville.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Raymond Bergeron; her parents, Wilfred Richard and the former Augustine Boudreaux, both natives of Rayne; nine brothers; and one sister.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Bergeron, Jr., Garrett Bergeron, Derek Bergeron, Jake Richard, Clint Richard and Travis Olivier. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Bergeron, Butch Soignier, Jim Richard, Michael Mouille, Antoine Richard and George Fruge.
