Eliza Scott

OPELOUSAS - Funeral services for Eliza Jane Scott will be Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Inc. in Opelousas. Rev. Willie Maynard, Jr. will be officiating for the services.

Eliza, a native of Opelousas, made her transition from Earth to Heaven on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the age of 89. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, sharing family history and expressing her love for the Lord.

Eliza was married to the late Johnny A. Matthews. She leaves to cherish precious memories of her, one brother, Forrest (Marcy) Scott of Port Arthur, TX; three daughters, Johnnie B. Simmons, Pattie Parrish and Anna Marie (John) Acclis, all of Opelousas; two sons, Arnold Wade Scott of Opelousas and Stephen (Diane) Viney of Gonzales; seven granddaughters, Dione (Antoine) White, Yolanda Parrish, Joanna Acclis, Joni (Brandon) Noel, Lisa Viney, Nalita Viney and Gina Viney; four grandsons, Christopher Termayne Matthews, Kevin (KK) Matthews, Johnathon Acclis and Etienne Barak Viney; sixteen great grandchildren, Deontre', D'Angelo, Westle, Jayden, Dezmon, Devin, Keelan, Charles, Briana, Barak, Jr., Nalita, Naijie, Ashley, Isaiah, Eric and Layla; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Eliza was preceded in death by: her parents, Onezime and Leanna Scott; ten brothers, Lank, Zemus, Amos, Naman, James, Willie, Alton, Freeman, Herbert and Herman; and seven sisters, Sedonia, Violet, Albertha, Louisiana, Lydia, Lizzima and Fanny Lou.

Visitation will be observed on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Inc. on 1108 w. Bellevue St., Opelousas, LA. Burial will be at the Zion Travelers Baptist Church Cemetery in Mallet, LA.
