KROTZ SPRINGS - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, LA, for Mr. Emery Skrantz. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Anthony Cemetery Mausoleum in Krotz Springs. Rev. Father Chanh Nguyen will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Emery was a native of Cecilia, lived most of his life in Krotz Springs, and was currently residing in Arnaudville. He passed away at his home on April 4, 2013, surrounded by his family. He served as Principal and Teacher in the St. Landry Parish School System for 52 years. He was the Principal at the Krotz Springs Elementary School for 36 years. He also was a Teacher at Opelousas Catholic School for 15 years and St. Ignatius Catholic School for 1 year. He was a member of the LA Retired Teachers Association.

He was also a U. S. Air Force Veteran who proudly served his country during the WWII. He was also a parishioner at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville. He enjoyed vegetable gardening in his spare time. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Evelyn Guidry Skrantz of Arnaudville; one son, Terry John Skrantz and wife, Mildred of New Roads; two daughters, Tina Webre of Krotz Springs; and Verdie Marie Vincent husband, Bobby of Mermentau; four brothers, Sherby Skrantz and wife, Theresa of Port Barre; Joseph "J.C." Skrantz of Krotz Springs; Calvert Skrantz and wife, Shirley of Baton Rouge; and Clayton Skantz and wife, of Zachary; sister, Shirley Morris and husband, Eddie of Port Barre; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, three stepchildren, Cynthia Lavergne and husband, Ricky of Arnaudville; Carl J. Robin and wife, Janice of Arnaudville; and Mark Robin of Arnaudville; 8 grandchildren, and 8 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Volina Hayes Skrantz; son, Dale Skrantz; three sisters, Beatrice Benoit, Verdie Stoute, and Paola Robin; and one brother, Adley Skrantz of Scott.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Skrantz, Randy Skrantz, Chris Skrantz, Terry Skrantz, Bobby Vincent, and Joseph Credeur, Jr.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
