NEW ORLEANS - Jane Elizabeth Gardner Aprill
October 5, 1941 - March 7, 2017
Jane Elizabeth Gardner Aprill passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 7, 2017.
Born in Opelousas on October 5, 1941 to Susan Rosa Boagni Gardner and Donald Stuart Gardner Sr., Jane attended the Academy of the Immaculate Conception and Louisiana State University. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Dr. Charles Neuville Aprill, and their children: Jane Crystal Aprill, her husband Lalo Flores and their children Vincent and Victoria; Susan Aprill and her husband Rick Coraccio; William Aprill; Kelly Kathleen Aprill and her partner Keith Thompson; and Stuart "Chuck" Aprill.
A passionate reader, zealous genealogist, dedicated collector, meticulous researcher, devious co-conspirator, and extraordinary orchestrator of really good times and even better food, Jane shared a calm, graceful presence with all who knew her, and a deep and abiding sense of snark with a select few. She loved books, antiques, south Louisiana, travelling, and her family, especially her grandchildren, who called her Gaga Jane. She was generous and curious, kind and tough. We miss her.
Please join us on Saturday, March 11 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home for a viewing at 9:00 A.M. and a memorial service at 12:15. In lieu of flowers, Jane requested donations to the New Orleans Public Library Foundation, the Opelousas-Eunice Public Library, or the Historic New Orleans Collection.
