Joseph Boxie Obituary

Joseph Hurley Boxie, Sr.

GRAND COTEAU - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, LA., for Joseph Hurley Boxie, Sr., 79, who entered eternal rest, Friday, August 12, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA.

Interment will be in Zion Travelers Baptist Cemetery in Sunset, LA.

Mr. Boxie is survived by his children, Norma Thibodeaux (Nolan) of Houston, TX., Hurley Boxie (Mary) of Sunset, LA., Debra Jones (Lloyd) of Spring, TX., Harold Boxie (Shellita) Orlando, FL. and Sheryl Boxie (fianc?, Anthony) of Lafayette, LA.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Singleton (Edward) of St. Martinville, LA.; two brothers-in-law, Wilfred Monroe (Mary) and Wilson Guidry both of Sunset, LA.; along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.

Mr. Boxie was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Noida Malbrough Boxie; wife, Myrtle Mae Monroe Boxie; a sister, Ella Rose "Shirley" Boxie Guidry; two brothers-in-law, Winston and Herman Monroe; three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Monroe Plumber, Mary Monroe Livings and Kathleen Henry Monroe.

Visiting hours will be observed from 7:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
