Betty Sopcyk Obituary

July 19, 1943 - August 23, 2025

Betty Ann Sopcyk, age 82, of Osakis, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on July 19, 1943, in Osakis, Minnesota, to Merlund "Bud" and Stella (Ferrian) Brees. She grew up in Osakis and graduated from Osakis High School. Following graduation, she attended Pearl Lowman Beauty School and worked as a hairdresser for 10 years.

In time, Betty married Philip Sopcyk, and together they made their home in Dayton, Minnesota, where they raised their four children. Betty devoted her life to her family while also finding joy in her many hobbies. She loved reading, tending her flower gardens, watching the birds outside her window, and caring for her many cats. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her eight grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

In 2000, Betty returned to Osakis to lovingly care for her elderly parents, Bud and Stella.

She is survived by her children, Michael Sopcyk, Lisa Dixon, Jeffrey Sopcyk, and Jenny Cunningham; her eight cherished grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merlund and Stella Brees.

A Mass will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Osakis.

Betty will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the love she shared with her family and friends.
