Eleonore "Lori" Schaufelberger
1930 - 2021
SCHAUFELBERGER, Eleonore "Lori" Schaufelberger, Eleonore "Lori" of Grapevine, (formerly of Irving) passed away peacefully and entered into eternal life, on Thursday, September 23, 2021. In her 91 years, Lori made an impact on countless lives, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Lori lived a long, happy, and productive life. Born in Vienna, Austria during the Great Depression, she was orphaned after her parents passed away. At the age of 5, she was taken in by her aunt. Lori was the youngest of five children. Lori met the love of her life, Albert, while working together in Lucerne, Switzerland. They married in 1954 and were excited to welcome their first daughter, Lore, the following year. They were led to America by the culinary opportunities at the Ridglea Country Club in Ft. Worth. Settling in Texas, another daughter, Cathy, soon blessed the family in 1959; and daughter, Helen, completed the family in 1968. Albert and Lori loved America and the promise of American life. They were determined to become citizens, one of their proudest accomplishments. Lori was by her husband's side and was part of the strong European culinary influence in DFW from the 1950's through the 1990's. Together they owned Albert's Swiss Pastry Shop and Mr. Peppe Restaurant on Lovers Lane in Dallas; among other culinary business adventures in the mid 1960s. A voracious reader, Lori always wanted to learn more about history, psychology, animals, nature and more! Words such as hard work, artistic, creative, gentleness, humor, humility, optimism, kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity characterized her life. Mostly though, she loved humanityall people, regardless of background or status. Just about everyone returned the sentiment. Lori is preceded in death by her husband, Albert, and daughter, Cathy Namanny. SURVIVORS: Lori is survived by daughters Lore Gano (Don), and Helen Ballauer (Jay), as well as her son-in-law, Tim Namanny; grandchildren Brendan, Casey, Will, Peyton and Sara; and her great grand-child, Amaia. A special thank you to Sylvia and Janet for their loving care and their tireless dedication to Albert and Lori by bringing them so much joy and love. Also, to the supportive care of Tina and her staff while she was in hospice as well as Custom Care Hospice. A memorial service was held at Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless on Saturday, October 23.
