Eugene Costello Obituary

Costello, Eugene Patrick Eugene Patrick Costello "Gene" passed away after complications of Parkinson's disease on June 29, 2013. He was born in Davenport, Iowa on December 22, 1926, where he resided until he joined the United States Navy at the age of 18, and served in World War II. Upon return from his service in the Navy, he graduated from the University of Iowa in 1950. After graduation, he travelled in pursuit of his career and landed in Dallas, where he met his wife Gail, and they were married in 1958. His extensive career in the credit industry took him and his family around the United States, but Texas has been home for the past twenty seven years. He is survived by his devoted wife and loving caregiver of 55 years, Gail Costello; his five children; Kelly Costello, Tim Costello and wife Maura, Tracy Eakin and husband Ken, Patrick Costello, Dan Costello and wife Holly along with his twelve Grandchildren; Caitlin and Erin Costello, Meg, Connor and Nolan Eakin; Ian, Claire and Margaret Costello; Daniel, Clark, Kathryn and Phillip Costello. He is also survived by his two nephews, John O'Donnell and Michael O'Donnell along with their families and many loving friends. Gene was a genuine Irishman and authentic American who was proud of his country and heritage. His Christian beliefs were valued and shown to his wife, children and grandchildren through his love, devotion and loyal sacrifice for his family. His infectious laughter, appreciation for life and smiling Irish eyes will be cherished and kept close in the hearts of all those who loved him. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 3 at Northwest Bible Church, 8505 Douglas Avenue, Dallas, Texas at 10:00 a.m. At a later date, he will be buried at the Dallas National V.A. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests your donations to the Parkinson Voice Project 500 N. Coit Road Suite 285, Richardson, Texas 75080 or Vitas Community Connection 8585 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 200, Dallas Texas 75247.

I am writing on behalf of my dad, E.E.(Gene) Flory (who lives in Arlington); he and Mr. Costello worked together at Montgomery Ward. Dad had the greatest respect for, and admiration of, Mr. Costello, and was saddened to learn of his passing. I believe that my Mom (Agnes) and Dad traveled with the Costellos on MW trips. May our God bless and sweeten every memory, comfort every sorrow, and wipe away every tear.

I am sorry to learn of Mr Costello's passing. I believe that this is the same Gene Costello who worked with my father, Burvon Sikes at Montgomery Ward and then after my father passed away in 1978 I had the pleasure of working at Wards at the credit office in Grand Prairie.
May your faith get you through and know that the memories you have will get you through.
