Since I was unable to attend Lauren's services I want to offer reflections of her in this space. Accordingly, if I could describe Lauren in a word, it would be, "Accomplished." She was the personification of an "Accomplished Woman" who just happened to be African American. Since her level of accomplishment transcended all race, ethnic, and/or religious boundaries. As these reflections are also a tribute to her parents Kevin and Paula who did a wonderful job of preparation and guidance. While allowing her the latitude to explore options, as she attempted to find her own way. I also, want to to reflect on Lauren from a Philadelphia, or "Philly" perspective. In as much as Lauren wanted to, and was able to become acquainted with her "Philly Family," as demonstrated by the many events she traveled with Kevin to attend. Moreover, the Philly Family loved her as well. We showed our support (love) when the entire Brown and Wiggins, Philly contingent, attended her undergraduate, post-graduation brunch celebration, which was held in Philly.

Personally I felt proud (of her) to attend each of her college graduations, as well as her White Coat Ceremony, which noted her entry and admittance into Medical School. In her brief life Lauren accomplished so much, and was such an inspiration to so many that her impact is difficult to measure. A phrase I used to describe the impact and influence that she had on Kyle, Paul, KJ, other younger family members, and her peers who had aspirations of their own, was, "The Pace-Setter." Additionally, as a tribute to her violin play ability, Lauren won the Omega Psi Phi Regional Talent Hunt when she was in high school. Furthermore, Lauren allowed my grandchildren to visit her office, and then performed an eye examinations. As a result of that visit my granddaughter has aspirations of becoming an ophthalmologist. Moreover, Lauren also assisted with inspiring my two grandchildren (by playing with them) to play the violin. Consequently, my grandson was recently inducted into his middle school's music honor society.

Lastly, within my orbit of individuals who had attained incredible achievements and/or accomplishments, as well as having had an indelible impact at a young age, before passing on, I view her with the likes of MLK (39), Malcolm X (39), Kobi Bryant (41), Chadwick Boseman (43), Dr. Donna Comrie (42), Alethea Wright (44). Conscientiously, Lauren guarded her soul or inner spirit from the the evil influences of this world, as seen by her ability to navigate effectively to produce good and positive outcomes in her educational, organizational, professional, and community work. Yes, Lauren was a special person.
My God take her soul among the righteous,
Uncle Ramadan

I send my prayers for God's comfort to the Wiggins Family. Attorney Kevin and Dr. Paula Wiggins interviewed me for admission to Harvard/Radcliffe College many years ago. And later, I received vital advice for law school from Mr. Wiggins. Although I did not have the opportunity to meet Lauren, her kindness, compassion and vision surely grew from her parents who continually demonstrated the same qualities.

Dr.Paula Dobbs-Wiggins and Attorney Kevin B. Wiggins :
May God be with you at this time.
You truly raised an angel with Dr. Lauren. She stayed the course and did the right things at the right time.

With the passing of time, the grief remains, but in some supernatural way, grief is no match for the caldron of precious memories that will endure over time. Blessings to you Paula and Kevin. You raised an angel who in turn was, and remains a blessing to every life she touched in her daily walk. Blessings to you Kyle, Paul Wesley, and KJ. Your big sister Lauren was truly amazing and dearly loved by all!!! To God be the Glory and even in this moment of transition, we can be steadfast in declaring that “all is well”.

Lauren, you will be greatly missed. I’ve been so shaken since hearing of your passing and I cannot imagine what your family is going through at this time. My heart and prayers go out to them. Thank you for your mentorship and kindness. Anyone can be nice, but you were kind and a child of God. You lived your faith and I know that you were and are very much loved. There are so few black, female ophthalmologists and I was blessed to learn from you. A wonderful colleague and friend in every way.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Dr. Wiggins. My husband was a patient of hers and she was a true Godsend to us both. Her warmth, smile, friendly conversations and laugh will always be cherished and remembered. She was the sweetest and most kindest soul and doctor that I ever known that truly cared for her patients and their families. May she find rest and peace with the Lord and may her familu be comforted during this difficult time. We miss you Dr. Wiggins....Gerald and Venessa Talbert

To Dr. Paula Dobbs-Wiggins and the entire Wiggins family: My prayers and condolences are with all of you. Lauren's unconditional love for people and life was shown in her interactions with us. I am blessed to have seen Lauren grow up at St. Luke and be a quiet role model to so many young girls. Getting to know her as an adult and as one of my Ophthalmologist’s was a bonus. I also thank God for her musical gifts and willingness to share them with us. A beautiful memory I’ll cherish.
