BAKER III, Rhodes Semmes Rhodes Semmes Baker III, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. The son of Rhodes II and Mary Frances Bookhout, and grandson of John J. and Frances Ross Bookhout and Rhodes S. and Edna Rembert Baker, he was born February 26, 1940, in Dallas, Texas. Rhodes graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, followed by college at Sewanee in Tennessee and The University of Texas Law School. He was a long-time member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and Salesmanship Club of Dallas. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed reading, writing, editing, journaling and wood carving. He kept meticulous illustrated journals. He was always busy tinkering with "projects", and loved to share his handiwork with friends and family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion Boyd Baker, sister Joan Baker Mason, and his devoted children Elizabeth Baker Lawson, Katherine Baker Worsham and her husband Joe, Rhodes Semmes Baker IV and his wife Jeny, grandchildren Ben, Harry and Charlie Lawson, Rebecca, Joe and Grace Worsham, and Caroline, Rhodes V and Sophie Baker. He was preceded in death by his precious granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Worsham. Affectionately known by his grandchildren as Poppy, he will be dearly missed. After a private family service, Rhodes' ashes will be interred in the Highland Park Presbyterian Church columbarium.
