Andrew Shaw Obituary

Andrew Shaw
June 28, 2022
Andrew Reid Shaw, 5/29/1966-6/26/2022
Andrew Reid Shaw was born May 29,1966. He entered the world early, because as anyone who has met him knows, patience was not one of his gifts and he hated being late. Andrew attended elementary school in Niskayuna, NY, and moved to Darien, CT when he was entering 8th grade. He made friends quickly and easily in every aspect of his life, and remained lifelong friends with many. He attended the University of Connecticut, and went on to a long career in media advertising sales. He followed in the footsteps of his father and siblings, but had his own passion for it. Recently, he discovered a new passion as he worked with elementary age students, particularly impacting the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Andrew had many other passions. He loved live music, body surfing, cooking, skiing. He loved singing loudly even if it was off-key. He loved a good bottle of cabernet. He loved to travel. He loved riding his motorcycle or electric bike for hours, exploring everywhere. He loved Wednesday night prayer services at church. His faith had become a central part of his life. He loved children, and was always ready with a silly face or a game of peekaboo. He adored his dogs, and they adored him. He was quick to offer help to anyone who needed it. He loved to host and entertain, welcoming people into his home. And more than anything, Andrew loved family. His parents, his siblings, his partner, his children and stepchildren were all deeply rooted in his heart. Andrew loved in a big way. When he entered the room, you knew he was there - filling the space with his laughter and booming voice.
Andrew is survived by his children, Samantha and Nicholas, his mother Marilyn, his fiancee Pam and their children, Lily, Malcolm, and Gracie, his siblings, Michael (and Geri), Stephen (and Janet), and Gayle, and his many nieces and nephews, whom he adored. He is predeceased by his father, Reid Shaw. He will be very missed.
Services will be held at 3:00pm, Friday July 1 with a reception immediately following at Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien CT. The family requests instead of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association or StamfordEducation4Autism.com

Not sure what to say?

I just read about Andrew and don't know what to say...seriously shocked, as I'm sure all the Shaws are. Feel so bad, especially for Marilyn, Gayle, Steve and Mike--losing a sibling is a very deep kind of hurt. May God bless and embrace a truly charismatic & sincere guy!

I am still in disbelief that my friend Andy (Dawg) Shaw is gone, you were always full of life and lived it out loud with your special gifted personality. You could mesmerize a crowd telling stories infused with your keen sense of humor and sarcasm. I only wish we had more time to reminisce our more than 35 years of friendship.

May your memory be a blessing.
