Anthony James Obituary

James, Anthony B.
Longtime Darien and Stamford resident Anthony B. James died Thursday, January 24, 2013 in Milford, CT. Tony was the first son of the late Guido and Mary James. He was born in Greenwich, CT and grew up in Darien where he attended the public schools and graduated from Darien High School in 1971. He later attended Berklee School of Music where he studied jazz music on alto and tenor saxophone and also became an accomplished flautist with a talent for improvisation. His heroes included Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and above all John Coltrane. He was renowned among his brothers and close friends as an oftentimes funny, larger than life rebellious spirit who was nicknamed `Slice of Life`. In addition to his interest in music Tony was an avid reader who spent many leisure hours in his local library. Tony last worked at SAC Capital in Stamford, CT as a mail clerk. Tony is survived by his three brothers: Thomas of Briarcliff Manor, NY; Matthew of Portland, ME and Andrew of Bethel, CT.
Plans for a reunion of family and friends are being made to take place in Darien within the next month.
