Faye Gage's family members and friends may find it comforting to know that many appreciative comments about her were posted to the "You know you are from Darien" discussion group on Facebook. It's a "closed" group but easy to join.

I am so sorry for your loss. "Mrs. Gage" was one of my favorite teachers at DHS in the early 1970's; not only did she nurture my love of reading and writing, but she extended herself as a friend and mentor. My friend and I visited her when she was home with Michael, and that is such a special memory. Many years later my mother was a part of her writing group in Darien and I was happy that we both got to know Faye. She will be missed.

I offer my sincere condolences. Mrs. Gage was my 11th grade English teacher in 1991-2 and had a lasting impact on my life. She went above and beyond, not only challenging us students to examine our thoughts on paperto "think deeper"but also to examine our own lives and to choose paths of integrity over conformity. I'll always remember reading Thoreau and Hawthorne in her class and drawing connections with "The Graduate." I sent her a note of thanks when my first book was published a few years ago and hope she saw it. I know I'm just one among many whose lives she touched, and I'm grateful for it.

I am so sorry for your loss. Faye was a beautiful individual who exemplified compassion and kindness as a teacher, leader and friend. I am grateful to have been a reading teacher during Faye's administration because through her leadership I have learned a great deal about the art of teaching and learning. Faye will forever shine through all of the students and teachers who were fortunate to have worked alongside her. I am blessed to be one of them.
May Faye rest in peace,

I was a student of Faye's at DHS back in the late 70's. I remember her vividly, and I still have two of the papers I wrote in her class. She helped me delve beneath the surface of the written word and appreciate the beauty in literature. I hope that during my time as a special education teacher, I had a lasting impact on some of my students the way she had on me.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was her student at DHS in 1976-1977 and she taught me how to write. I will never forget her. She was one of those teachers who really made a difference in my life. Years ago, when she worked in Greenwich where my dad taught I sent a note of appreciation to her through him. I never heard from her but sincerely hoped she received my heartfelt thanks.
