Jack Davison Obituary

Jack Davison of Woodbridge, husband of Diana Katnack Davison for 62 years, died at home on April 22 after an eight-month fight to recover from strokes he suffered last September

Born in St Louis on May 12, 1929, Mr Davison was the son of Harold and Margaret Davison, and brother of Peggy Davison McClure and Ted McClure of St Louis, and Fred and Marion Katnack of Oldwick, NJ Mr Davison graduated from University City High School in 1947 and from Princeton University in 1951

Mr Davison attended several graduate school programs at Harvard, Stanford and Wesleyan Universities, including a Fulbright Scholarship in Pakistan A passionate educator and inspiring youth leader, Mr Davison was a high school history teacher for 41 years and football coach for 32 years, teaching and coaching at St Louis Country Day School, Groton School, Choate School, Hillhouse and Richard C Lee High Schools in New Haven, Hamden High School and Darien High School, where he retired from his career in 1992

Many of Mr Davison's football teams had undefeated seasons and earned district, conference and state championships Mr and Mrs Davison also taught abroad at the Cairo America College from 1983-1985 At the time of his death, they had visited a total of 72 countries

In addition to his wife, Mr Davison is survived by his four children, Deborah, Hal, Melissa and Sarah, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren A celebration of Mr Davison's life will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 12 pm at the First United Church of Christ Congregational, 34 West Main Street in Milford

Memorial donations honoring Mr Davison may be made to American Friends Service Committee, whose worldwide programs support peace, justice and human dignity
