Joyce Hill Obituary
Ms Hill was born on June 25, 1927 in Darien, Connecticut She grew up as part of a large close knit family in Noroton Heights Her passion was to become a registered nurse She graduated from the Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing in Middletown, Connecticut in 1949 Ms Hill worked for many years as a registered nurse at Stamford Hospital, St Joseph's Hospital, the Visiting Nurse Association and later on in private duty nursing
As proud as she was of being a registered nurse it paled in comparison to the fierce pride and devotion she maintained for her family Her husband of 61 years George W Hill, Sr (Town of Darien Building Inspector), her two sons George W Hill, Jr and Stephen Hill and all of her extended family
Ms Hill may best be remembered for all of the family and friends that she took care of in their time of need If one word were used to define her in one word it would be "compassion" She took care of everyone and never asked for anything in return When someone would call with a problem she would always end the conversation by saying "give me a call back and let me know how you made out" Her love and generosity will be sorely missed by everyone
Ms Hill was predeceased by her beloved husband George, her parents Louis Canto and Mary Bruno Canto and brother Louis Canto, Jr She is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Canto of Darien, Connecticut and Civita Canto Wilcox of Monroe, Connecticut, two sons Stephen T Hill and his wife Michelle of Milford, Connecticut and George W Hill, Jr and his wife Deborah of Waco, Texas, and four grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Christopher and Jennifer Hill
Calling hours will be at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, Connecticut on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 5 pm to 8 pm A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St John's Roman Catholic Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, Connecticut at 10 am on Friday, April 27, 2012 Internment will immediately follow at the Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien, Connecticut To leave online condolence, visit lawrencefuneralhomecom
