Margaret King Obituary

Margaret Fiske King
July 14, 1927- December 3, 2021
Margaret "Peggy" Fiske King was born in Chicago to Andrew D. Fiske and Margaret Naughton Fiske. She attended Our Lady of Peace School through the eighth grade and graduated from St. Xaviers Academy and continued her education at the College. Her stories of high school are the stuff of legend, tormenting nuns and skirting the rules wherever possible.
Peggy worked in downtown Chicago where she met her future husband John Forbes King with whom she enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage with six children. Married life began in Chicago before a move to Long Beach City, Indiana then to Connecticut and subsequently to Montreal Canada. Returning to Connecticut in 1979 a new home was settled in Darien until retirement in 1991 brought Peggy and John to Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club where they both indulged their passion for golf, and Peggy was a regular at the bridge table. After losing her husband Peggy moved to Osprey Village on Amelia Island where she continued to enjoy bridge, reading, many friends and her family.
A fiercely independent woman Peggy made the move to Tampa to be closer to family as her health declined. She will be interred at Bay Pines in Tampa, Florida alongside her husband.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband John Forbes King, her sister Nancy Fiske Corrigan and her eldest daughter Maggie Dee. She is survived by son John and Midge King of Darien, Connecticut, son Andrew and Sara King of Beaver Creek, Colorado, daughter Mary and Lowell Gruman of Traverse City, Michigan, daughter Sarah King and Sara Shevel of Tampa, Florida and son James King of Buford, Georgia along with eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
