Peter Young Obituary
May 6, 1936-March 25, 2021Peter Van Vleet Young passed away on March 25th 2021 at home in New Canaan, CT with his family by his side. Peter was born in Stamford, CT on May 06, 1936 and raised in Darien, CT by his parents Lloyd and Dorothy Young. Peter graduated from Berkshire School and Suffolk University. He married Georgia Schenck of Grosse Pointe Michigan in October 1958. Peter served in the U.S. Army. Peter retired as Vice Chairman at Union Trust.
Throughout the years Peter served on the board at Low Heywood School, Berkshire School, the Stamford Museum and Woodway Country Club. Peter was an avid golfer and served on the board of the Junior Senior Golf Association and co-founded the Anguilla Golf Association. Peter was a member of the Mahogany Grove Church in Anguilla where he and Georgia spent many winters. Peter enjoyed boating, restoration of antique cars and traveling.
Peter is survived by his wife, Georgia Young and his children, Christie Young, Todd Van Vleet Young and his wife Lorna, Dana Goering and her husband Dean. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Peter Van Vleet Young II, Lila Rachel Young, Hunter Van Vleet Goering and Georgia Emily Goering.
There will be a private service at Talmadge Hill Church.

Just became aware of Peter’s passing. I had the honor, privilege and benefit of his guidance, leadership and friendship for 13 years. The memories remain strong and always beneficial.

Our sincere condolences to Mrs. Young and the family. We are sadden to learn of his passing. Mr. Young has been a client of ours for over 25 years. He will surely be missed. We know that he loved traveling to Anguilla and considered it his home. May his soul rest in peace.... Management & Staff of D-3 Enterprises Limited.

I was very sad today to learn of Peter’s passing. Peter was very important to me. A wonderful boss/mentor for the 21 years we worked together and most of all for being a life long friend. My sympathies to Georgia and his wonderful family. Peter - Rest In Peace.
